Could someone shed some light on this gear box please... for what i understand it's from a series 3?

From what I can see in your image that it is possibly a S3 as the bellhousing doesn't have the clutch cross shaft hole, it would have a casting down under on the lhs for the clutch slave cylinder, the G/box number on the Left side nr the selectors would give some clues also S3 G/box cases have the Leyland "L" cast on it and some ? ribs cast into it, cheers

I don't have a number resource, but it looks like a Series 3 box - definitely a Series box, and can't see the opening for the clutch shaft that is there on the S1 & 2/2a. A look at the other side or front should show the clutch release to confirm this. (Of course there is a slight possibility it is the all synchro box from late home market S2a wagons, but they are very scarce here.
