So someone's cottoned on to what they're worth.
:rocket:
I think I'll be moving mine to where it can't be seen now.
Hope he gets it back, DL

Should post the numbers. Engine, chassis, body, VIN. In case it gets advertised for sale unregistered or is sold in pieces.
Is it still a regulation in Victoria that a vehicle can not be advertised for sale without an identifying number in the ad? One of the enthusiast magazines starting refusing ads for complete vehicles without an identifying number as the magazine was based in Victoria. After numerous loud complaints from advertisers outside Victoria they determined this was only required of Victorian advertisers.

Or sadly, if it was a targeted theft it will end up in a shipping container heading O/S.

Silly not to have a GPS tag / tracker in any vehicle of value . A $5.00 Aldi simcard in one with a $15.00 plan gives 12 months peace of mind.
Or even keep an old smartphone hidden in there with charge cord wired in and use 'wheres my phone' ap

These trackers are so common place now that every one is aware of them, and anyone with an ounce of interest will know how they work and how easily they can be disabled.
Hopefully in case of OP the car was taken for a ride then abandoned to be found again. In that case a tracker would help. But if it was a pro, the car has gone - tracker included.

So no use having a tracker then ?? I bet you can't find / disable mine !

Don't need to find it, at least not right away. They are disabled automatically on approach by any theif who knows what they are doing.
It is worth having one as there are stupid drugged up opportunists out there. But if your car is targeted by a pro, the tracker will be blocked.

OK , I didn't think of that , quick google shows such devices are available , but illegal , but I suppose thieves don't worry about such trivialities. hmm, back to plan B and sew taser prongs into seat , right around the testicular area.

The RR still has not been seen so John is starting over again with a white 74 RR two door he had in storage . Let's hope white is not disirable as the green .

Did Johns Rangie have a Capstain winch ? I was a talking to a bloke in Lake Bolac who showed me his two early RRC, & he mentioned his mate just bought a Green 2 door , the only reason he bought it was he thought is was special as it had a Capstain Winch . I only ever remember seeing one RRC with a Capstain back in the 80's & it was the same green.

Bit of good news but a strange story.
Just had a message from John to tell me two hooded men bought the RR back at 3am this morning . They said they found it deep in the bush were they were cutting wood.
The back seat , spare wheel & radio are gone but it seams largely un damaged other than the steering feels a bit strange, he is hoping it just needs a fluid top up.

And if they're genuine good samaratins, why the hoods?

I think it's a bit cold down there at the moment, that could be a good reason[bighmmm] . they were talking to John so I do not think they were trying to hide. But my question is why 3am ? [bigwhistle]

Almost as if they didn’t want anyone to see them drive through and drop it off...

Bit more news from JD this morning. He said he had a heavy turn up to collect the money for his mate . JD's wife told him the insurance wants them to do bank deposit so his mate will need to come with bank details & ID. I advised JD to let the police know what is going on they may want to be there if the guy turn's up . On closer inspection whoever took it changed his new battery for one that dose not hold a charge.
JD said he hopes he dose not end up in casualty. He dose not think they will give name or ID & won't make them selves available for police.

Wow.
I wonder if insurance had already paid out?
I'd be getting the vehicle offsite and safe somewhere.
Yes and letting the Police know ASAP.

Conspiracy theory time...
Did JD owe someone money? They took his RR but then realised they couldn't convert it to cash, and now just want cash the old fashioned way? I hope not and all is as it is at face value....

He had it advertised as stolen & was offering $1000 reward, that's what they are after. Police have told him it is up to him if he wanted to hand over the cash but didn't recommmend it.
He is just waiting to see what comes next.
