As the title suggests I found a film of engine oil on the top intercooler hose. Can not hear or see any indication of a split hose, engine runds fine with normal boost.
any thoughts?

Have you recently had the top i/cooler hose off , or the Y piece on the intake side between the heads.? I have had this issue and tracked it back to the horseshoe wire clip that is on the radiator side of the Y piece which doesn't seat correctly when put back together. I clean out the Y piece every 10,000ks and have had the same film of oil as you mention. If you stand on the passenger side and look closely you can see the housing that the top i/c hose fits onto also fits onto the Y piece and it's that join that is held together with a horseshoe type wire clip. This is where mine was coming from.
