Well, the red bits do look like Mercury Red, the PMG fleet colour. The station wagon roof would not be original. I wonder where the compliance plate came from as it is bolted on not riveted. What is the chassis number on the actual chassis and the engine number?

Yeah, the tek screws holding the VIN plate are a bit questionable

I recently spotted a pic of the Leyland holding yard and there was a generous sprinkle of what appear to be red hardtops. I will see if I can find the pic.

I wonder what date that photo was taken and where that storage was. Minis were usually at Zetland and LR's at Pressed Metal, Enfield. Although Zetland might have been chocka with unloved and unwanted Morris 1500's and production had to be stored elsewhere. I don't recall delivering any PMG hardtops out of Rocklea but quite a few with dropside bodies.

This was very early for compliance plates so attachment method may not have been standardised very well. As far as I can recall, the PMG were the only common red ones, but some fire services had them as well - I saw two ex-RFS ones last week at Mudgee field days.

Public Money Grabbers Truck. I haven't seen one of those for years. I know where there is a Telecom Australia 109" sitting in a paddock. I have contacted the owner, nice old Southern American bloke and a pleasure to talk too, but he gave it to his daughter and she never returned my calls. Its a shame really as it looks like it hasn't turned a wheel for years by the amount of grass growing up around it and I would hate to see it rust away to nothing.
