Whistle and grind puma 2.4

Hi all, long time since i’ve posted as my defender has been running fine. But last couple of days it has developed a high pitch whine and a grinding rattle when driving/accelerating about 2000rpm. My wife took a recording but it won’t upload - sorry.
I had a read through all the ‘whistle’ threads but could not find a similar issue. Any ideas brains trust?

Any chance it could be the turbo dying? Loud whistle/grind under load, no noise when coasting or at low revs.
