Chops
21st July 2019, 08:46 PM
Whilst I was driving back from Melbourne today, had time to "ponder",, as you do. Taking the "long way home" will always allow for reflecting/thinking time,,, God I do love driving,, and the permagrin is still awesome. [biggrin] [thumbsupbig] [bigwhistle]
So, it seems I'm due for a break,, "Long Service Leave" I believe this is what they call it [bigrolf] (Can I get pay with that? [wink11] [biggrin])
Its been a great ten year stint,, and looking forward to the next ten years [biggrin]
I've had a lot of fun,, sometimes at the expense of others [tonguewink],,,
I've learnt heaps,, although probably regarded by some as mostly useless facts [bigwhistle]
I guess the most important thing though,, damn I've met a lot of people through here and Land Rovers, and made some awesome long term friends along the way [thumbsupbig]
We've got our Winter Wombat in a couple of weeks,, will be sure to have a celebratory drink on Saturday night. Cheers folks.
So peeps,, here's to the next ten years,, hope to meet a few more along the way too,, especially when we start our trip. [biggrin]
Cheers Chops.

In '05 I took 14 weeks, threw the Engel, a bit of clobber and the swag in the back of the D1, kissed the Light of My Life goodbye and wandered off into the wild North, West and Centre for the duration.
I've just upgraded to one of the more dome type swags and now being retired am thinking of going walkabout again.
The good woman is very understanding or wants to get rid of me. I'm certain it's the former!
It's sooo good not to have a fixed time frame or agenda.
Enjoy your time, Chops and hopefully, we may catch up. (But definitely not at Wombat[smilebigeye])

If it's approved the plan is Katherine-Darwin-Savannah Way- Cape York and a right turn south down the inland.

My dear Sir, I am not one who partakes in the consumption of the beverage that seems to create a caffeine reliance . I much prefer my 6 cups of quality, black tea daily [tonguewink] and I'll have you know that I was gainfully employed until attaining the age of 61 years and 2 months.:bat:[bigsmile1]

Nah, DM, I'm older than you (not by much, from your info) but would've ended up in the loony bin if I had kept working with/appeasing the clients the company was dealing with.
Ian, no handouts for this little black duck. One of the benefits apparently, of having a younger bride.[bigsad]

Gawd, 66 and still in the workforce. I can't imagine still working into old age. I never intended to work (for salary) past 55 but stuck it out until 56 waiting to see if The Runt chucked redundancy packages around like his govt. did at the CES and DVA. Best thing you can do with your life is to retire whilst you still have good health and as soon as you can afford to.

Funny you should say that.
I was supposed to “semi retire” at 45, we’ll, that was the original plan. That decision or plan came about when I was 16 after talking with a couple of “old men”, (probably about 60 -70) at the then named Ayres Rock. I asked them if they were going to climb it, but none of them could,, too old and decrepit from working hard all their lives. Discussions ensued, and, during the bus trip home to Melbourne I decided I’d start my explorations from about 45,,, one should be still fit enough to do most stuff 😏
Two divorces later,, I’m over ten years behind 😳 😒 😤
