Hi all,
I had a charging system error message pop up on the instrument panel and this was accompanied by a whining noise in the engine bay.
After weeks of intense research online and shopping for tools from spanners to coupling wrenches I was able to replace the alternator that had been condemned by a multimeter test.
However, the whining noise is now gone as is the warning message on the instrument display screen but there is now a new type of noise. It is more like a hissing noise. More like a high pressure hissing that you hear when a water or steam pipe pops.
This noise only comes alive when I floor the accelerator while the car is in motion and not when stationary.
I decided to remove the fan and belts to inspect the pulleys but all looked okay. To rule out other possibilities I replaced the accessory drive belt.
The noise is still there.
Does any one know what could be causing this?
I can’t see any leaky pipes or fluid.
Thanks
