An Australian family has had a frightening close call after their 4WD was swallowed up by a sinkhole on an Indonesian street.Nail-biting footage shows the family scramble out of their vehicle as it sits precariously on the edge of the gaping opening on the busy street in Kentungan, Yogyakarta, The Jakarta Post reported. The mother jumps out the passenger seat, grabbing her son from the back seat. Her husband follows moments later.

They were dam lucky. If the LR had of had an old type radio he might have been able to save it.

Those that have seen the Simpsons episode of "Mr Plow" would know what I am talking about.[smilebigeye][smilebigeye]

Did anyone see the news last night? A couple from WA had their Deefer fall into a huge sink hole in Indonesia? Lucky to get out just before it went in. Member on here?

Quote - "But it just so happens there’s a Land Rover club that’s come to their aid.“As soon as they saw the news that the land rover had gone in everyone was there,” Mrs Rule said."

That's a demonstration of the good old world wide Land Rover camaraderie for you - well done to the local LR Club

I hope the repairs aren't too involved and you're on your way again soon.

Saw it on TV and said to my wife "Hope they all OK and It will take more than that to kill a Defender". Good to see the Landy Club are helping as we knew they would.

Good luck

Hi all. I have bren a member here for a while and have had advice several times. The footage of tge car falking into the hole in indonesia was my 1996 defender. My wife, myself and our 18month old boy are 7 months into a 3 tear overland expedition from australia to london. We were all fine as we managed to get out in time but the xar is pretty banged up. The local LR community is helpung us with repairs which look like they will take 4-6 weeks. Once they are complete we will continue to kalumantan/borneo then back to sumatra and on to mainland malaysia, thailand etc. This isnt going to stop us, just slow us down a bit. If you would like to see updates on the repairs or on our travels you can find us on facebook @rulesoftheroadsus or instagram @rules_ofthe_road.
Cheers
Michael
