I have a D4 poverty pack audio system - small black and white display, think it might be so called HK 'Hi line' model.

It has an AUX input which can be selected either by pressing the AUX button on the fascia or by selecting the 'Menu' function and scolling up or down to select "AUX".

I have used it for years including while driving this morning to play MP3 from the phone. However, while driving later in the day I find I could no longer select or display the AUX screen on the LCD display either by pressing the AUX button or by trying to select it from the Menu function.

When pressing the AUX button on the fascia nothing happens. When selecting AUX from the menu I get the radio screen displayed instead.

All other functions - Radio, Phone etc. display on the LCD screen and appear to function normally.

Any ideas.

Have you checked the Aux input connection in the centre console facing the middle row seats? There’s also a 12v socket there. The assembly pops out quite easily, and you can then check the wiring connection to the auxiliary input. I replaced the 12v socket there with a pair of USB ports recently, and found the aux connection was not 100% secure. Had to bend the tabs on the female socket to get it to t
hold more firmly.

The problem was not that I could not get a 'Line In' signal. It was I could not switch to the 'Line In' function to even receive a Line In signal on the media player.

Anyway, whatever the problem was it resolved itself after about 24 hours. Weird.

I think it may have something to do with the GAP too being plugged in. I have seen it screw the central LCD display before which returns to normal after the tool is removed and a day or so has elapsed. I'm only speculating, though I was using the GAP tool just prior to noticing I could no longer select the AUX / Line In function.

I think it is because the GAP tool allows you to drive it in emergencies via the media centre controls or the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel if you don't have a BT phone handy. To do this it must 'dick' with the functionality of the respective LCD displays to display info. I think it screws up sometimes but like I said that is speculation.
