Hi Everyone,
When I purchased the 2003 Defender 90 TD5, as a father/son project, it came complete with leaky brakes. It appears as though brake fluid has been running down the driver’s side firewall for some time and has pretty efficiently stripped the paint of it. No surprise that it has started rusting although luckily it appears to be mostly surface rust. So while we have everything removed for repairs I would like to treat the firewall with the latest miracle substance that will stop the rust and withstand any potential future hydraulic leaks.

There is also some minor rust appearing in the driver’s side footwell which may or may not be related but I would like to deal with at the same time.

I have read many rust treatment threads on here and other Defender forums but they mainly seem to consist of wax or oil/lanolin based products designed for cavities and underbody components. I have not found any that specifically mention potential brake fluid exposure. My initial thought was to use POR-15 as it touted as a more permanent rust prevention system and claims to be unaffected by brake fluid (up to Dot 4). However, I have no experience with this paint system and have seen some mixed reviews on its rust prevention capability. I would really appreciate any advice or experience with this issue.
