Having read the books, which I found quite entertaining, I am watching the Series, but it ain't as good as the books.

Agree...books are always better then the movie or TV Series.

Hopefully Robert is looking down and enjoying it.

How do the books match up to the TV series? Is it one book per episode or is the whole series just one book?

Some episodes are named after a book, others have references to other books, some is new stuff.

All of the main characters in the books are in the show although a couple of twists..

My retention from reading books isn’t the best.

Les Norton = Paul Vautin, redhead Rugby League player. Paul was from Mitchelton though, not Dirranbandi.
Price Galesi = Perc. Galea, Sydney illegal gambling czar, punter, racehorse owner
Kelly Club = Kellett Club in Kellet St. King's Cross. One of Perc. illegal casinos.

If you are familiar with the naughty boys (and girls) of Sydney in the era you pick up a lot of them in the books.
