I have a Defender TDI 300 with 6.5 L x 16 x 20.6 rims ( 20.6 offset & tubed ). City, highway, and some sand driving. Would appreciate the thoughts on the best tyres for my useage and what tubeless rims i could also use.
Thanks in advance.

I'm using 225/95 r16 bridgesone 697 on white sunraysia @6.5 inch tubeless ( I think ) . Very happy with them, low noise but seem to throw a lot of spray however got some spray catching mudflaps. toyota takeoffs as well however tyroola have them for $231
If you are near Redcliffe, a guy pops up occasionaly with both tyres alone and tyres and rims ex tojo's.
cheers

Presently using BFGoodrich AT LT235 85 R16 and achieve good results. It is confusing to read the reviews on various tyres.

Welcome to AULRO.com[smilebigeye]
tyres are very subjective,,
use the rim brands and tyre sizes offered as good research,,
but you will need to use your money to confirm tyres brands offered......... [wink11]

Standard D1 is 235/70/16 and Defender 235/85/16.
Going larger means slower acceleration, longer braking distances and your speedo might be wrong.

IIRC the size you've indicated is the standard for Disco 1&2.
The standard for Defender is 235/85/16 which is what OP is currently using & is, IMHO, the best suited to his Defender 300Tdi.

I've often thought about going up to 255/85/16 on my old Tdi300 Defender but I'm reminded every time I need to take off on a Hill that its best to stay with what I'm running. Upgrading size brings a whole lot more potential issues when fully loaded and the need to having to drop it in low when taking off on a hill would become annoying I'm thinking...

The best coil sprung Landy wheels are ANR4583, exactly the same as the ones you have but tubeless. Made in Spain, rated to 2200kg each, designed by Land Rover for Land Rovers. Or you can buy some cheap Sunraysia knockoffs from China, up to you. People will argue all day about tyres, but for me the best are 235/85r16 BFG MTs.
