Morning All,

I have just had the pink slip done on my '97 300tdi 130 with 100k on the clock, and it was noted that the water pump is leaking. As mentioned in previous my 130 is a keeper, and not looking for a quick fix. I am looking to prevent any future issues, and prepare her for a long range tour some time in the future. So with that in mind..

Are there any options for an upgraded / more robust water pump?
Should I replace just the pump or the housing as well?
Is the a proven solution to stop the P gasket leaking?
While the pump is off is there anything else I should consider replacing / upgrading?

I have been considering

replacing all coolant hoses with Alisport silicone - Any recommendations on the best quality jubilee clips / hose clamps?
Upgrading the radiator with a bigger Alisport unit

Any help / advice greatly appreciated.

If its leaking out of a small hole then the seal has gone and new pump time , airtex is the brand you want. P gasket or even the housing to block could be corroded so check exactly where the leak is first.

......

At a minimum the 3 long bolts that secure the pump on it's left hand side. The 5 smaller bolts will probably be fine, but the 3 longer ones will almost certainly all be rusted along their shanks.

I considered the Allisport hose set, but worked out to be quite expensive.
Found a decent looking set on ebay, for the complete hose set but where the hose junctions are replaced with metal T junctions .. I found of more than acceptable quality. I think $160-ish delivered.

Is there any difference / benefits between the OEM 300tdi water pump, and the 2.8 International pump. From what I can understand they both fit the 300tdi?
