Hi,
I last changed the oil 4 years ago and have done a total of 2000ks since then, all in short bursts involving no more than 25 minutes running. Now I am about to go on a 7000k trip. The LR has been garaged when not in use in what is a pretty dry climate. Should I change before the trip...or save some cash and do it in 3 weeks time after the trip?

Do the oil change before you go as it wont break the bank and after 4 years the oil is most likely buggered anyway[thumbsupbig]

before. after 12 months, unless in a sealed bottle, the oil will have oxidised and be less effective.

I'd recommend 12 monthly oil change regardless of kms for something that does limited running. The oil as mentioned above will be oxidizing while its in the sump and also regular running evaporates combustion by products and any water that may condense in the sump which will if your not doing significant distances will have a negative affect on the oil.

Condensate in the oil is the big issue IMO, and it really stresses the oils reserve alkalinity by reacting with the combustion byproducts

Just change it now.
