Hello everyone, I would like to build an anti-noise filter that blocks the electromagnetic interference generated by the solenoids of the td5 engine injectors on my defender where I installed a Codan 9360 hf radio.
I therefore ask you if anyone has the wiring diagram of the TD5 engine electronic control unit.
I have placed metal stocking and ferrite toroid along the cables of the 5 injectors, positioned at each ground socket ... in this way the noise has decreased but it is still present and therefore to completely zero it I must know how the ECU is made.
Once the filter is built and tested it will share the project with you
Thank you in advance.

Hi I used to install HF's for a business that sold them, as you have found they generate a huge amount of noise and we spent weeks trying to sort it out and we pretty much gave up with TD5 Landy's and told prospective buyers that the HF would be useless if the engine was running as the injection system created so much noise it overloaded the transceiver.
Good luck with possibly solving the problem, at the time the electronics guru's within the company also spent many hours delving into the source of the noise and eventually decided that it was not worth the effort and expense involved as it affected a relatively small percentage of HF users. The company has long since closed down so cannot help with contact info of those involved.
Be aware also that the mounting of the auto antenna in the middle of the spare tyre like in the picture is also going to cause problems as the wheel and steel belts in the tyre act as a Faraday cage which affects tuning and function. I know that the top of the antenna is above the tyre but for best use the antenna should be above the tyre, my experience is with the earlier HF's and antenna's so it maybe that later versions are not as greatly affected.

A mate headed a JRA team that solved this back in 1999/2000.
It involved a new harness so it is doable.
Solihull were unable to do it, they'd spent several hundred thousand pounds trying and at the time the ADF were looking at re-powering the Perentie with the TD5.
Marks team did it.
The UK didn't believe it was possible so he flew to the UK with it in his brief case.

I used 3 snap on toroids where the cable came out of the head on my D2 TD5.
Reduced the noise to almost zero.
8528 body under the drivers seat, 9350 antenna on the back door.

Toroids on the control cable(s) on mine and the Engle Also i run a separate power line and box for the HF from all the other bits.
Oh and earth the crap out of everything
