Hello All,

I have been searching for an Australian supplier of M18 x 130 mm Greasable Shackle Bolts - not pins for my trailer fitted with roller rocker leaf springs. Australian suppliers seem to restrict their stock to 100 mm long bolts. I have also been to specialist trailer places and they do not stock 130 mm long M18 bolts.

My trailer came fitted with non-greasable shackle bolts and I would like to upgrade them to greasable ones.

My online searching has found that M18 x 130 mm Greasable Shackle Bolts were fitted to Toyota 4 Runners.

No, I do not wish to walk into a Toyota supplier and buy a genuine part - and leave an arm or a leg behind in relation to their pricing.

Here is what I have found via overseas suppliers so far:

The following site identifies the bolts as fitting a 1979-1995 Toyota pickup and 1985-1995 Toyota 4 Runner Surf Trail-Gear 111307-1-KIT M18 x 130mm Greasable Shackle Bolt, For Pickup/4Runner 12433003176 | eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Trail-Gear-111307-1-KIT-M18-x-130mm-Greasable-Shackle-Bolt-For-Pickup-4Runner/132672730264)

I would greatly appreciate assistance to find an Australian supplier.

Kind regards

Hello BLKnight,

Thanks for the reply. I had thought about drilling bolts myself however I was unsure whether this would weaken them.

Kind regards

You’re not going to weaken a bolt like that to a point it will ever become an issue in that application. You only need to drill say a 3mm hole less than halfway down them, even smaller cross holes and a little larger for the grease nipple to be threaded in the top, but that parts not under much stress in this application. I’d do it without hesitation.

The greasable shackle bolts on my van are only 9/16” each and each axle holds 700kg. Not sure what van you have but 18mm bolts are huge with massive shear strength - for a grade 8.8 around 70kN - over 7,000Kg. Even if you weaken it, what sort of loads will your van create on the bolt - no where near that, even shock loaded.

Don't **** about. Do you have a lathe or access to one? Just make them. A first year could do them in minutes.

you can do it with just a drill press and vice grips

you can also do it with just a vice and a hand drill.
