Gotta be a setup. How long would a battery hold charge - fuel goes off, etc, etc.

Looks like they put a new battery in it in the picture.

THey swapped in a battery and its a diesel...

I've run diesel thats been left to sit for more than 5 years in engine of the same tech vintage without an issue, and that only looks like a couple of years or so growth for some areas.

ah, my bad - I did fast forward a few times to get to the action - I thought diesel also went off over time. :)
Still, quite entertaining.

I wish my old bangers would fire up like that!

Well YEAH, that's sort of what I was thinking. My old 110 is totally reliable for starting but I've had plenty of daily drivers that needed a special ritual to start; 2 stroke outboards in particular - leave them 3 or 4 weeks and they can be a pain to start.

EAS has failed - it was on the bumpstops. I can assure you, that's a kidney-pounding ride. [bigsmile]

Know guys who restarted a 15A dozer that had been sitting for more that 20 years in outback Qld. Took them a day or so but they got it going.

I and my son started a Cat D7D 17A dozer that sat for 12 years on the side of a hill. The main problem is if the exhausts are capped or not. Water ingress stuffs them properly. Took us a day or so but it runs perfectly. I bought it b 4 starting it. ..cheap..as a non runner😎

So it can be done!

Had to love the cat.

Here's a Kiwi who has some sheep.. And a Hitachi. It's not a RRC, but still.

Who says RRs are unreliable?

It does. It breeds a sort of algae, but that usually causes blocked pickup filters over time. It won't happen unless there is contact with air IIRC, which it won't get in the pump and pipes. Must admit that I was surprised when it just started though.
