Who has got African Love Grass in their suburban lawn?

NSW WeedWise (https://weeds.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/Details/3)

Here in Canberra, due to the dry climate and poor soils, African Love Grass seems to have taken a foothold in the suburban landscape and is becoming a real PITA.

It has taken over my front dirt and is almost impossible to kill off. I have tried digging it out and using roundup on it but this has not been all that successful as it is a clumping grass and killing one bit does not kill off the rest. It outgrows even the weeds and its seeds go everywhere.

Has anyone had any success in dealing with this weed in their lawns?

You can start by stopping playing Barry White through the outdoor speakers...🤣🤦🙄

Yes. There is a specific chemical for it called taskforce. Not only does it kill like roundup but will inhibit regrowth while the good grass takes over.
We have used it on lawns with good results and intend to use it to help take out infestations in pastures this season.

Thanks for that - just googled it and it seems to be the right stuff.

I have found where to buy in bulk but nothing comes up for say just 1 litre - any ideas where to buy locally - Bunnings does not seem to stock it.

Cheers

taskforce herbicide - Google Search (https://www.google.com/search?q=taskforce+herbicide&safe=off&client=tablet-android-lenovo&prmd=snvi&sxsrf=ACYBGNSu_qD5rif1KDzcQidqft3aUwA8FA:157002398 9435&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiQh7eR2_3kAhWYbisKHUy-BiYQ_AUoAXoECA4QAQ&biw=1098&bih=686&dpr=1.75)

Pricey for 1 litre.

Some generic brands there as well.

X2 for Taskforce. Can be a bit hard to find and when found tends to be a bit pricy. Give your local nursery(s) a try but be prepared to pay for it. I reckon the price is worth it to keep the bloody stuff under control.

A cereal crop farmer mate is not a fan of anything South African - he reckons that South African weeds cost him thousands every year.
