Storm vs Alive/Bruce Davis for ECU-remap on 10P Td5?

Hi - I've got a replacement Triumph Rover Spares ECU on my 1999 Td5 Disco that I've never been happy with and looking at an upgrade. Both Storm and Alive/Bruce Davis can remove the chip from the old ECUs, reprogram and replace and the pros and cons of the two that I know about are:

> Bruce Davis charges $880 whereas Storm is about $500 (plus around $100 for return post from Australia to UK)

> The risk of sending my ECU internationally are obviously a bit higher than just sending to Sydney to get Bruce to do the job.

So...the deciding factor is really about the tunes themselves - i.e. does anyone know how a Stage 2 Storm tune compares to what Alive/Bruce do?

My engine has done 250,000km, starts easily and very smooth, large intercooler, straight-through exhaust, EGR delete, upgraded exhaust cartridge.

Buy an NNN ecu and then you can change the mapping when ever you want and go with more aggressive ones

I have an NNN td5inside hybrid turbo and remap to suit and bigger IC and it goes like fright train, but then if it wanted something adjusted easy as an email and new file to upload onto the ecu

Thanks, I guess that's an option but depends how much a newer ECU costs and then there's the hassle of getting injectors recoded. I'm not really that fussed about being able to continually change the map...I trust that Storm and Alive have come up with a good safe tune and happy to stick with that once it's done.

That's great if you can actually get hold of Jose! I contacted him at the beginning of August about a remap and got an immediate reply. However, I haven't heard from him since in spite of a few emails.

Anybody got a suggestion for an alternative remap? I just want the file and then I'll do it via Nanocom.

Yeah NNN whilst expensive can have an better long term run, where can you can your tunes on the fly and adjust them all the time to get it setup up right for your td5

I had a Bruce Davis remap done to my 2000 D2 auto. Medium tune I think, very useful increase in torque/power. Smooth running, no black smoke except when really caning it. Better fuel consumption when driven gently. Cost about $800 inc. return postage, done by a local independent.
Car was trashed by an eastern grey and I couldn't get the ecu out and changed in time before it was written off and disappeared into the RACV parts bin.
Someone would have got a very nice surprise, ecu was unmarked and looked like a std part.....

ah ok...was getting confused by some of the ECU ads mentioning ACE but now see that the ACE ECU is a completely separate unit...

Why would it matter for the ace, as it's an different ecu all together
