View Full Version : D4 Wheel Alignment Fremantle area preferred?

DazzaTD5 pointed out that my 21K 697 tyre on the RHS rear was completely worn out on the inside. Have just got back from 21K trip around the northern half of AU.
Ironically, on the trip my tandem trailer has developed a significant alignment problem on the LHS (hopefully not related?)

On this trip I've done a few Ks with the LLAMS on the first lower suspension point (only anticlockwise movement from standard), but despite being suggested I get an alignment if I planned to make this a standard practice, surely could not account for the wear - the tyre is now cactus.

Anyone know of a wheel alignment place they can recommend - preferentially not too far from Fremantle?

Tyre power Osborne Park has been doing Discos the longest. Next door to dealer. Was always recommended by Gordon GOE.

I’m close to you and that’s where I’ve always gone but why Tyrepower in Freo would be different or Bridgestone on Stirling Hwy I can’t say.

So Tyre Right is the tyre dealer associated with Barbagallos in Osborne Park. I went there independently and they did my D4 and did a good job. Went the extra mile to swap tyres around to get the least tram lining from my part-worn tyres. I personally will be going back there next time. They also fixed my LHR abnormal tyre wear

X2 Richards Tyrepower in Osborne park. They did a sterling job sorting out lady P’s alignment after another of the well known tyre chains stuffed it when they replaced the tyres. They also have a good reputation with the classic car clubs. They also own the Claremont typepower branch which will be closer to you.

I’ve also had good service from Bridgestone in canning vale.

I wouldn’t have thought that running a lower suspension setting would have resulted in such a negative camber that it would scrub out a tyre and given that it’s only one tyre I would be looking at the angles on that wheel.

Cheers steve

Hi Gavin
Just back from 3 weeks up north and had my d4 done with tyre power freo on Monday, Service was good plus local for me, front wheels were out rears we’re okay. While I was there another discovery was having some work done. Previous to that I had used tyre power south perth/Albany Hwy. thought I’d try and keep it local this time. So give them a crack.

I personally think it is related to the caravan tyre wear (no facts or knowledge of this). If someone (a caravan expect? maybe the manufacturer? [tonguewink] ) said to me yes its due to the shims etc on the caravan not being correct, that wouldn't surprise me.

It may well be just the alignment of the drivers side rear wheel on the disco, but the wear on the inside edge is extreme. Outer has reasonable tread, inner is down to the belts and its like a 40 degree bevel.

Bugger - just booked in with Osb Pk. Have known Dominic at Tyrepower Freo for 10 years and has always given good service, but never considered them for alignment - will remember next time.

Well went to have an alignment check this afternoon.
RHS rear was -1 degree out for camber. This would have been exacerbated by being fully loaded, or air suspension fully negating this?
But why only the RHS rear, and not the identical left?

Discussed the caravan alignment issue, but although DazzaTD5's considerations were certainly not dismissed, no consensus (or solution) to date.
Next step is to get the van alignment checked - assuming the G&S Control Rider can be adjusted? Will report back.

Definitely get the caravan suspension alignment check, and yes, G&S Control Rider suspension can be adjusted.

Many van owners have wear problems with even new vans. Makers do nothing about balance or alignment, just slap them together and flog them off to the unsuspecting.
Our Goldtsream was very bad with tyres scalloping badly from first taking it out of the dealers yard. Their response was standard for the industry ..."You've abused it".
We eventually got satisfaction through small claims court and had the alignment done by a mobile bloke. Problem solved. He does trucks and 4 wheel drives as well.
D4s done at Tyreright next to Barbs Osborne Park. Good service.
AlanH.

PS. I'll find his (aligners) card and post his details later.

My brother owns a camper trailer business. He gets all his aligned by an independent mobile guy (works south of the river) and supplies the alignment report with the trailer. Wouldn't sell one without it being done.

Happy to supply details (of both brothers business and the alignment guy)

That is good to hear but it sure doesn't apply to most of them. Total disgrace the after sales attitude of many and consumers have little support from those supposedly their to protect their interests, but of course that's way of thread and a completely different subject. :)
By the way, the mobile bloke I mention is Steve 0419 907 564 and he's meticulous in his work. Our vans new tyres are still looking good after he'd done his adjustments.

Be warned, he's got a LC 200. Boo! The LC-LR rivalry is alive and well in our family. If you call him, make sure you tell him that the Disco is a far superior machine to the tractor he calls a car...
