Offered a new home to a 1976 Series 3 shorty on the weekend.
The owner passed away many years ago, and his wife kept the vehicle for nostalgic reasons.
It has original 2.25 engine etc, but is full of little personal touches, kick panels on the doors,
fishing rod holders, door pockets, and even a unique cruise control/hand throttle that operates
directly onto the accelerator pedal. It also has a very well made wire grille to replace the plastic
S3 grille, which looks good, but if galvanized would really look the part. The plastic grille came
with it, however i assume the owner preferred the appearance of the earlier series Land Rovers
with wire grilles.
It also came with a large folder that contains a comprehensive history of the vehicles maintenance
and service records, plus an assortment of spare parts.

Here are a few pics.

Cheers, Mick.

Why change anything unless it affects safety? [bigsad] All that is it's history. You may wish to replace the faded denim shorts though for some modern board shorts.[wink11]

FWIW though, the grille appears to a metal late S2A grille which was hot dipped galv finish. Maybe it still is under that coating.

The vehicle ID Plate should be able to give you more details.

Enjoy your good fortune.

1976 Series 3 and it's definitely a home made grille.
Plan to leave most of it as it is.

Cheers, Mick.
