Carlos and Smith paid a terrible price for their protest on the podium that day. Carlos' wife committed suicide, Smith's first marriage collapsed, and they both struggled to make a living. But now, they have both been inducted into the Olympic and Paralympic Committee's hall of fame.

And our own Peter Norman? Not only is his time to gain silver still an Australian record, He is recognised around the World not only as an athlete, but as a humanitarian. John Carlos said it all when he said " tell your children about Peter Norman ".
