Hi There,
I need to remove the high / low sector gear knob assembly I've sorted the diff lock / normal lever out, however the rod that connects to the transfer case that does the high / neutral / low position has a black block with a smaller orange block that appears to go into it. Do I have to do something like pry the orange block out of the black block, or does the rod disconnect from the transfer case some other way. The manual just says "remove selector rod" it doesn't say how, I've googled this and also done a quick scan through AULRO, nothing that specific, can anybody give me some pointers on how to remove this selector rod please.

And yes I'm doing the clutch...……. got to the point I had to...…..

Thanks in anticipation.

Cheers Marty

Marty, push the button in on the end below the orange block, and as you are pushing the button towards the transmission, simultaneously lever the whole rod away from the transmission, it will pop off. If there is any buildup of grit and sand etc under the button, clean it out with crc etc so the clips under that button can move easily to allow it to release.

Hi JC,
Yet again thanks, I decided to progress other things whilst waiting for the answer, didn't have to wait that long did I...… :). I'm doing the seals on the output shafts as well, getting the front drive flange off is proving challenging, time to get a puller from my workplace, the old copper hide isn't quite up to it.

Catch ya, thanks for coming to the rescue.

Cheers Marty
