So did Drive.com.au. That's a 2003 model onwards Prado in the photograph.
The recalled 96-99 models are not far from scrap now anyway.

I think they should recall them all because they are ugly and Japanese

due to a problem with rear axle shafts. The defective parts, which could develop cracks, will be replaced with fortified shafts, the Japanese motor company said in a statement.
Shame Land Rover didn't do the same thing with disc brake Defender rear half shafts flogging out, or the legendary 300 Tdi timing belt fiasco.

I've seen a number of Japanese models I'd like to take home, but I think SWMBO would object to a younger woman in the house....:D:D:D

they are doing a recall on vehicles that are nearly ten years old on a problem that could be blamed on something else,ie its been used off road
now that is customer service that others cannot or will not follow.

If these are semi floating axles, and they snap at the outer end, the vehicle will have serious handling "issues" at highway speeds :o
That would be a safty recall to cover their rear ends, and have very little to do with customer satisfaction :)
