My RRS has now covered 180,000km and is still on its original suspension components. The front end is a bit clunky but is OK on smooth roads, is ok over speed humps but clunks away happily on secondary roads. So the lower control arms need doing and I know very well the sound they make.
However it is the rear end that is really annoying - it simply rattles away irrespective of the road surface. It is not a clunk like the front control arms but more of a rattle similar to a broken exhaust hanger and the exhaust banging on the chassis.
On the weekend I changed diff oils and had both the front and rear up on ramps - while the front clunks away there is nothing obvious in the front lower control arms but at the rear the exhaust all looks OK - no where it can bang, there is nothing obvious in the lower suspension bushes (didn't check the sway bars) and the counterweights at the rear all moved ok without banging on the body. The spare wheel was pulled up nice and tight.
So any ideas what the incessant rattle in the rear end could be noting it is a rattle and not a clunk like the front end has.
Thanks
Garry
