I have an intermittent noise from the fan belt and pulleys on my 130. It started happening occasionally last summer and could best be described as sounding like cicadas under the bonnet. Driving out to the farm today it was more consistent and it got me thinking that the thermo clutch on the fan might be loading up the belt and causing it to slip and then when the viscous clutch lets go the noise stops. Never does it cold. I have removed the belt and checked all the idlers, they are all fine and even if they weren't it probably would not be intermittent.

Anyone had a similar problem?

No direct experience but maybe either change the belt or try some belt dressing.

I remember a mate years back that just gave a squeaky belt a quick shot of WD40 with the motor running. Not sure whether it helped it grip or allowed it to slip with out squealing but it certainly quietened things down......
