well the defender is finally marking it's territory dam it

looks like the rear seal on the fuel pump maybe the culprit

whats the best way of going about sorting it ?

if its the head seal get 2 bolts about 30mm longer than the ones in there,

remove the end mount, clean stuff
remove the injestor linesclean it some more
remove 2 diagonal oppsite bolts clean it again
install the 2 longer bolts clean it because you feel like being pedantic
loosen the other 2 bolts and gently pry the distributor head upwards until it touches the 2 longer bolts

if anything looks like it got dirty or you touched it, clean it again.
slowly unwind the 2 longer bolts until the seal just protrude clear
hoik it out
make sure everythings clean, infact clean it again
put the new seal in by carefully stretching it over the head.
lube it with rubber grease
wind the long bolts in
put the normal bolts in
take the long bolts out (and shake them all about
put the other normal bolts in
put the mount back on
put the injector lines back in
start it up.

Swear, forgot to check the cover nut on the plunger access bolt. and that was where the leak was in the first place (or the boost diaphagm pin, or the little corner of the top cover)

I was told I was up for a pump rebuild after the mechanic tightened the fuel lines and it continued to leak. I went home depressed about it all and had a look myself. It was the plug in the middle of the fuel lines. Happy it was something simple but disappointed the mechanic missed it and had me lined up for hefty pump rebuild.
