Like many 101 owners here I used to be a member of the UK 101 Club. I left quite a few years back after it became clear that they were just using foreign members as cash cows and ongoing issues with the provision of spare parts - basically not getting them.

So some 6 years later I was wondering how they are going and is it worth rejoining? Are there any current 101 club members on AULRO and how have you found the environment of the Club these days?

Thanks

Garry

I’m the same - joined, had some not so good experiences and didn’t renew. I mainly joined so I could buy some parts, but now there are other parts suppliers for 101 specific bits, I haven’t bothered. Nothing on there that would make me join back up - the knowledge base here on AULRO is far superior IMO and as mentioned, specialist parts are easy enough to come by elsewhere.

Yes I think you are right but was hoping that things might have changed - maybe more enlightened people running the club as I know some of the UK members were horrified at what was going on at the time and at least one joined AULRO to get our feedback and take it back to the Club.

To be fair, only one guy ticked me off no end after I asked - quite nicely - about when an item would be available again. Got the third degree about it. Not sure what the benefits of joining now would be to be honest. It’s just a paid forum with very few members and a narrow knowledge base. Happy to pay a decent membership here where there’s so much more than just the 101’s and more members with a much more in depth knowledge of the vehicle. I think most of them in the UK only get driven to the odd show a few miles down the road and back, not run for any decent durations in tougher conditions.

I mean, who in the UK would set out on a 6,000KM trip in theirs? I’m doing this next year, but I’ve been on other multi thousand KM trips in mine, including towing a caravan over 3,000KM in it over 3 weeks a few years back. The PO also did some long trips in it, including the Simpson.

This is the reason that the Zeus disc brake conversion only shows issues on vehicle here in Australia too and why they’ve stopped supplying them over here.

I still read the threads on the UK site and if I want to talk to a member I can PM them all without having to be a paying member., not that I want to these days.
I find it interesting some of the posts where a person or persons are needing information about something and I know my self or other people on AULRO would be of much help.
Able engineering have a 101 site, I have not checked on it recently.
The Able site could have the potential to side line the 101 UK club site.
101 wise we seem to be a happy mob here at Aulro.
I dont post much these days about 101s as mine is going very reliably these days and after more that 10 years of owner ship doesnt need to be be modified any more to suit my needs.
