Has anyone any experience with Jaycar portable fridge/freezers 12/24/240 volt? Their current catalogue list the following models-

15 litre $199
22 litre $299
30 litre $309
40 litre $339
50 litre $369

I feel these prices are about right for a small fridge. You can buy a name brand bar fridge for under $200 at Gerry Ripoffs.

I will not buy an Engel or Waeco as I feel these are grossly overpriced by a factor of about 2.5.

No experience but look well priced for their size, nice touches in the wheels and a bung in the bottom.
3 year warranty as well [thumbsupbig].

I bought the 15 litre, that also has an optional lid extention to expand it to 22 litres. I managed to freeze 2 X 2 litre premiun full cream milk, in a couple of hours.
I bought it to replace my 45 litre fridge, on day trips, so I can access the contents whilst driving.
More than happy.
Check that they are 240V compatible, the 15 litre needs an external transformer, available at extra cost.

Hmmm, the 15 litre would make a good bait fridge.

Thanks Bb, you've probably gone and got me into strife here.[thumbsupbig]

The Jaycar ones use the Danfoss compressors, which is what the Waeco CF series used, not sure about the newer CFX's, I suspect still Danfoss but better controls.

The Jaycar ones use LG compressors, at least some do, warranted for three years.

Jaycar advertise Danfoss compressors on at least some of their range.

Yes I had another look, and it seems the "Powertech" ones use Danfoss, the new range of "Brassmonkey" units use LG's. Maybe that's why there are deals on the "Powertech" as they are on run out/end of line specials.
