Hi All
The :soapbox: bastards stole by White 2015 Discovery 4 TDV6 on Saturday morning 28/12/2019 between 1am and 7am from Albany Creek, Brisbane. Rego 659VNW. Broke in and stole key (and wallet) while we slept
Please keep an eye out or if someone dodgy sells parts - call police 131444.
Had many extras which they may try sell as parts:
- Black Compo Rims with BFG KO2 tires
- 2 x VIAR 450C compressors (were mounted onboard)
- Black OppositeLock Bullbar with WARN 12k Winch
- Custom Built Rocksliders (home made with real heavy angle iron - only one set like them in the world)
- ARB Roof Rack Bars

I feel your pain. I have been the victim, house broken into and car stolen whilst i was at work and the missus was in bed. In Townsville car theft and break ins are rife. Hope all turns out ok.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their armpits. Bastards!
I have nothing useful to add other than more venom. Sorry.

Sorry to hear, bit late in hindsight
but I have concealed $100 GPS trackers in all my vehicles , $15 Aldi simcard keeps them alive for 12 months. Not only might help recover your vehicle but track down the thieving bastards at the same time. Should be mandatory IMO .

Many lessons learned
1) GPS is suddenly top of my list if it’s recovered or even on the new one from insurance. Only problem with this is then I would get to the bastards before the police 🚑
2) sound obvious now but the extras you add over time are more expensive to replace than you think - make sure it’s covered in your policy and then update your insurance as you add new items.

GPS trackers are a good idea in theory, but I belive they are very easily blocked by thieves

Yes I guess professional thieves that target specific brands will have illegal GPS blockers in their arsenal of tools, but I believe the majority of car thefts are opportunistic.

Only until that one moment when their blocker stops working and the signal gets through. Its all you need.
Most thieves arent armed with it. And the police can use the mobile signal from the device to triangulate position as well.

Still going to fit a GPS but would prefer something that stopped them stealing it in the first place..
Back in the Day .. 😁
On my first car, many moons ago before fancy immobilisers I ran a “secret” switch in the ignition coil circuit that you had to press first to start car. Latching so that when you turned the car off it reset to open circuit. In modern terms perhaps a switch on the 12v supply to the engine ECM module - but then again if they really want it they’d just bring a tow truck..
For every better mouse trap there comes a better mouse!!

Be thankful they took the keys and left.
I’ve known of instances where they can’t find the keys and assault the owner to get them.

Years ago I owned a Subaru WRX, was a 99 model and I bought it in perhaps 2004 - it had the most amazing tracker installed in it.
It came with 24/7 monitoring
was GPS traceable
the company could open or lock the car doors via satellite (it once worked three levels underground in a car park)
They could kill the engine remotely
it had a panic button
I owned it for a few years and never paid a dime for the monitoring but when I had an issue they still opened it for me.
The story goes if the car gets stolen they call the police and when they get behind the vehicle the gps locks the doors and kills the engine until the crooks are arrested.
I can only imagine there would be even better tech on the market now

Interesting there were a few short vids on channel 9, tonights news, from the northside mob of car thieves.
One was a drivers view of a D4,the dash, centre console, etc was clearly visible.
The vids were recent.

Thanks Scarry just seen your post!
This is the link to the video my car is last section of video: burgerIcon (https://amp.couriermail.com.au/truecrimeaustralia/police-courts/highspeed-joyrides-drugs-cash-and-violence-inside-the-northside-gang/news-story/fa845bcdcf80ed12efbd54dd6b44c611)
99.999% sure that’s mine !!
The type of phone charger is identical but anyone can have that but the clincher is the redarc electronic brake knob position on the centre console in the final seconds of the video. ****ing little ****ers...
Concerning is that it looks like a samurai type sword handle sticking up between the seats.
I have decided to accept the losses and move on but will NEVER insure myself with Allianz again.

I thought the same when I read this:
Consider the number of hours labour the builder put into building this 5" gauge loco (5" gauge is a big model) to have it destroyed for a little bit of copper. Mongrels! :soapbox:
Stolen
157959
Locomotive recovered 3 days after being stolen (sadly very badly damaged and unrepairable). The locomotive was dismembered using crowbars and bolt cutters for the relatively small amount of copper in its boiler and fittings, presumably as scrap for a few $, and dumped into the sea.
5"g H16 4-6-2 English Tank steam locomotive
The Illawarra Live Steamers railway club was broken into late last night, and this (and another) locomotive was removed from the Carriage Shed. Evidence of scratches on one of the other locomotives in the shed indicates they were most likely after the copper boilers for scrap value, which is a couple of hundred dollars compared with the thousands of dollars and hours gone into building these. Both locomotives have been to several clubs, running at Galston, Mudgee, Canberra and various other tracks.
The boiler number of locomotive (commonly known as the 'Warrick') is NC-07-0140.

*** Update ****
Almost 8 month to the day - my D4 has been located in Petrie Terrace when a resident complained that a car had been standing outside their house for MONTHS!!
Apparently the insurance company is going to Auction it through Pickles. It looks like it’s taken a hammering so don’t think I will be bidding 😃.
