After many months of questioning, searching, researching, investigating and looking, I have finally picked, what I think, a tidy L322 TDV8. It is an 07 with 180k on the clock, in Stonaway Grey. I had it checked out by GCA here in Sydney and came up reasonably good, it has a great service history. There are a few issues but nothing major and these will be taken care of within the next couple of months. The seller even filled the tank, maybe to get me as far away from him as possible. It is a dream to drive and the power, after my classic, is amazing. Thanks to everyone who answered my question with patience and wisdom. I will now look around for some 18” wheels before I by some new shoes for her. https://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/d025296e9dd7a1df39a532307697b545.jpg

Shape wise, this is the closest to the original classic.

Nice looking car! One of my favourite colours especially with the Sand leather interior[thumbsupbig]
I agree the L322 is closest to the Classic, but to me it's the best looking Rangie, particularly the 2010 - 2012 update version. I know I'm showing my age, but I prefer the L322 dash over the newer hi-tech versions in later cars.
Apart from wheels any other improvements, for her?

Very nice, and looks like you picked up the lux version.
I have the 2007 MY2008 which now has 290,000km approx. You can read about my mechanical issues over the last 5 years of ownership, some expected others not.
They are such a nice machine to drive, well thought out and extremely capable off road.
Complexity and age are is its main vulnerabilities. But that applies to any modern 4WD. I wouldn’t expect any modern 4WD to be fixed on the side of the road, unless a really simple problem like dead battery or out of fuel.

I much prefer your window tint to mine's privacy glass, both being able to see in and for the appearance.

Thanks guys,
I do plan an EGR delete and map out or emulators, I need a roof rack or bars and I would like to get the LR front bar, the only one you can fit on these, to mount an aerial and lights. We plan to do some touring with a small van so duel batteries etc will also be fitted, it already has the tow bar attachment. I have a couple of things that were picked up in the pre purchase that need doing but nothing major. The exterior is in top condition, the interior is good but the seats are a little worn, leather repair will fix that. RAR where did you buy your delete kit and emulators? I will also need to get some sort of diagnostic tool, Nancom, Gap, Foxwell maybe Carsoft????? We don't plan to start our travel for about 12 months so I have plenty of time to sort out any bugs.
This thing is just awesome to drive, after the classic the acceleration is stunning, yes it is the Luxury version. I am now spending countless hours trying to workout how everything works.

Hi Phil
As far as a diagnostic tool, the GAP IID Tool is used by over 90% of members on Ffrr and many here; it is a great companion for a L322. I would recommend buying the Blue Tooth version for convenience [thumbsupbig]
Diagnostic tool for Land Rover - Gap Diagnostic (https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/)
Bell Auto Services in the UK sell the tool with options for a re-map and EGR delete, it's a popular option depending on what state of tune you want ? I believe they can pre-load the files on a new IID tool, or you send them a copy of your ECU file and they remap the file and send it back to you and using the IID tool you upload it to the car yourself.

I 2nd the IIDtool. It has paid for itself in my case. Quite simply it will give you info to understand a problem and save you taking it somewhere to diagnose a problem (and cost) with a convenience to do your own research on the problem to determine the best repair option.
In my case I had a light come up on the dash - indicating an air bag problem. It was actually a power interruption to the pretensioner, caused by a wire connection when the seat was in a certain position (every time my wife got in the car and moved the seat to her position). I was able to zip tie the wire so it didn’t move when the seat moved and problem solved without replacing any parts.
Re map out or Autocode Emulators, I’ll sit on the fence. I would go map out EGR if it’s fully mapped out to the extent you can remove the EGR and associated coolant pipes (my next job). I have emulators which work fine. Straight up i would fit blanking plates.

I intend to blank out completely so I think I will also map out. Looking at a Gap IID BT. Would D4 18" rims fit an 07 TDV8, I don't think it has Brembos.

Probably the best made kit on the market !
Direct or Ebay
EGR Delete - Range Rover Land Rover 3.6 TDV8 (http://www.egr-delete.co.uk/product/landrover_tdv8/)
RANGE ROVER Vogue and SPORT 3.6 TDV8 EGR Removal /Blanking plate DELETE kit | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RANGE-ROVER-Vogue-and-SPORT-3-6-TDV8-EGR-Removal-Blanking-plate-DELETE-kit-/152642302772)
Compomotive or Tuffant 18"rims are the only ones that fit over the caliper. Depending on rim you might need to get new wheel nuts !!!

IID BT is a good bit of kit. As Laurie said, uou can then download a BAS EGR delete remap.
D3/4 18” rims fit over the back callipers only, not the front callipers. Your L322 should have Brembo callipers.
I was able to use standard wheel nuts with my Compo rims.
Speaking of wheel nuts, check each one to see if the alloy cap is loose. Loose feeling nuts should be replaced before the cap separates from the steel wheel nut underneath. Also, bin the wheel nuts that need the special key to remove. My key/nut stripped/distorted so nut couldn’t be removed.

Noice looking vehicle, but I'll be sticking with my td6.[smilebigeye]
Now that I have repaired/replaced all the big ticket items that go wrong with the td6 whilst employed.
I'm hoping for less BIG bills except for the usual maintenance on it when your now on a limited income.[bigwhistle]

Well today was a big one, for me anyway. I did a fluid change for the trans, new pan and filter. An EGR delete and map out. I have found some 19" rims that fit so I will start investigating tyres. I the few weeks of my ownership, I have had no problems, no boings just purrrrs, so happy with the way she drives. My daily commute is about 30km each way which includes a long stretch of 80kph. We have done a trip to Forster and back, again, so smooth on the road. next step will be a diff service, trans case service. I will be looking for roof bars/rack, some way of fitting lights and aerials. Then to the BIL, an auto sparks, for a duel battery and set up for touring. Happy boy. Thanks for this forum, there is so much info on it.
Cheers. Phil

Great news Phil [thumbsupbig]
How is she performing after the re-map and egr delete, can you notice an improvement ? The second battery upgrade that Tim from Traxide sells here would be a great item, and it wouldn't take long for your BIL to install it.
My first installation video, for an L322, any suggestions please. (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l322-range-rover/274756-my-first-installation-video-l322-any-suggestions-please.html)
As far as tyres it really depends on your road/off-road percentage for an A/T tyre or a straight out highway tyre. I've had a very good run with the Yokohama Geolander A/T, but they have a very limited size range in the larger diameter tyres [bigsad], so it's going to take time to find size and pattern for your driving.

If you're considering an AT then have a look at Pirelli AT+ in 255/55R19. I have them in 275/55R20 although would prefer the smaller 255/60R19 that has more sidewall than 255/55R19, but unfortunately Pirelli don't make the AT+ in this size.

The car is running much smoother now that the EGR's are mapped out, seems a bit more power and less turbo lag and I don't puff black smoke on acceleration. Thanks Laurie for the heads up on the delete kit, really well made and easy to install. The trans service also has made the gear changes much smother. I will need an AT tyre so I am looking in that direction, 255/60r19 if possible.
Cheers, Phil.
