Gday fellas

I’m currently down in Esperance, WA , on a trip away with the misso . We got 50kms out of Esperance In the 2010 defender after a 8hr drive when **** started to go down hill .
It began with what I thought was a light air sucking kinda noise which I thought was a hose of some sort , but after about 10kms developed into a scraping noise with the occasional squeak .
Managed to crawl the remaining 50kms into town doing about 40km/h .
Performance of the car didn’t seem affected but the noise got worse and sounded terrible, would scrape and screech when accelerating and slowing down but would stop when clutch was pushed in .
Managed to get into a local mechanic ( definitely not a LR specialist) today who thinks it’s the input shaft bearing but wasn’t 100%.
What do you guys think is my best option here , is there a quick fix to get me back to Perth or am I best off chucking it on a truck ?
Or is there another common issue with the pumas which it could be ?

Cheers lads

If it was a bearing, wouldn't dropping the oil out (G'box &/or T'Fer) to check the condition of the oil help in diagnosing what the problem might be?

Where is Dazza when you need him??[biggrin]

I wouldn't go near a mechanic that doesn't know Puma's.
Particularly if its a big job which yours unfortunately could be.

Could be clutch issue?

Would be good if it was just a uni joint, but anything else, need a good LR mechanic.

To many horrid stories on here where an LR mechanic has not been used.
