‘Elvis’ at Port Macquarie airport. Around 2003. They were doing the daily inspection before heading off to fight local fires.
My First Officer doing the Elvis impersonation 😂

Your FO did well! - were you still on F27s then?
interesting having the steps up the u/c leg to enable engine & rotor head inspecs - very convenient

Saw one of them on TV last night. Impressive. How are they to fly?

No, I never flew the 20 ton Dog Whistle (F27). I was a DHC-8 captain with Qantaslink. Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour were my second homes back then...
Dancing Elvis is now a captain at Jetstar. One of the funniest guys I’ve ever flown with 😂

Hugh, did you ever know a pilot I used to fly RC helicopters with back in the Eighties - Wayne Waddington? He was with, I think QantasLink.

You bet I know Wayne. He was with Hazelton, then possibly Rex. I met him a Bankstown in the 80’s when we were there.
I don’t know where he went from there...

I could have sworn I once saw him on Qantas flight.
Phil Carkagis is another Qantas Captain (747 if he hasn't retired) who is a Landy owner. He has a 101. Phil was once a helicopter pilot in the Army (keeping the helo connection in this thread :) ).

Ron, it's been a long time since I saw Wayne. It's entirely possible he went to QF.
We had a pilot who was a Huey pilot in Vietnam. I've heard a lot about him, but never got to meet him. Apparently he was an extremely colourful character.

No, I doubt that was Phil, he's probably younger than me - I'm Vietnam era (but never went as I failed the medical).
