This is the 1962 Mildura Mardi Gras Parade.

I recall a model of a B Class in the Spencer Street Railway Station foyer back when as a kid, we traveled by train from Red Cliffs in country Victoria, down to the Big Smoke.

Cheers, Mick.

The B Class are lovely looking locos. Only 26 built, 4 still in service. [emoji106]

As a kid i had a lot of rides in them and "T's", mainly from Red Cliffs to Ouyen and return.
It was early days and steam loco's were still running.
One thing that stands out in my memory is the crew always had electric radiators burning in winter, but they (diesel electric)
probably left the steam loco's for dead when it came to crewing them in summer.

Cheers, Mick.

The A ( B ) is one of my favourite locos as well.

My mother use to live in Frankston and when ever I visited, to took every opportunity to video the Stone Point shuttle.

Back in about 1962 a head on occurred between two B Class locomotives in the Red Cliffs station yard.
It was high impact as one was travelling at speed, the other was parked in a siding to allow the other through.
We have some movie footage of the recovery operation on 8 mm home movies.

Cheers Mick.
