😥😥. 156,600km. 4.4tdv8 2011 Vogue. Started her up at 545am to a whole dash of lamps, and charging system fault warning... sigh....

Could be worse, we are off up to the north of the state at 6am tomorrow!!! At least I have today to sort it...

Know your pain... Do you know a good repairer in your area? [bigwhistle][bigsmile]

I hope it's easier to do and cheaper than the L322 M62 V8 alternator. :)

I hope theres a Tutorial and cross referenced part number!! [wink11]

and then he pulls it apart and tells us what actually failed...

The alternator itself is easy to unbolt and disconnect, the wiring is in easy to reach areas. The biggest pain is the fan, shroud, coolant and boost hoses etc etc... up to 2 hours already....🤬

But it is only a 45 minute job - maybe you had better get a better Indy to do the job.

4 hours, includes coolant flush while it was apart... a few strained muscles and scrapes, and only 1 shroud bolt left over... it's NOT going back in👍😎

I had hoped that the 4.4's 220A version might last longer. Do you use the heated seats, steering wheel and windscreen much in your often cool climate?

I use the seat heaters, screen and aux diesel heater a lot in winter, but mine is the poverty model, not even a bloody phone module installed I found out!! I wonder if o can buy one and configure it Graeme?

No phone module? The handbook doesn't suggest that it might not be fitted and the Faultmate that I initially used shows that 100% of the model range have the phone and microphone fitted.

The single telephone module is normally located in the rear (presumably left side with all the other modules) with 4 wire connections, 2 of which are MOST-in and MOST-out and if the microphone isn't fitted then I bet that the wiring is (I haven't yet found the microphone schematic). BT has to be enabled in the CCF as would the phone module. No distinct BT module is listed amongst mine's various modules by the IIDTool so presumably is provided by the BCU. The MOST-out from another module can be relocated to the phone module's MOST-out and a new MOST lead fitted between the other module's MOST-out and the phone module's MOST-in. I'll take a picture of mine's module shortly.

Edit: I found a BT module AH42 10F845 AA connected to the MOST bus even though its not listed as an ecu so still researching. The BT module is apparently the same as fitted to D4s etc.

No, that module is the telephone module according to the IIDTool. The wiring schematic doesn't show a BT module on the MOST bus so I suspect that the phone module provides BT support.

Behind left rear cover.

The connector at the front is the only one apart from the MOST cables. The wire colours are green with red stripe and black. The connector will be there somewhere.

Note the BT ID on the label.

The microphone is located in the overhead console and connects directly to the audio unit. It is the same as used in all later LRs including all L322s - part number XVC000050. I'd be very surprised if it isn't already fitted.

I have that exact unit, however when I tried to activate the phone module using Autologic in vehicle set up file, it states phone module not fitted...

Have you checked the spot where mine is mounted? Your's mightn't have the dust but that can be added.

Yup. It's there, although nice and clean...😊. It's puzzling that it isn't "visible" to activate though....

Looks promising! Pairing using 2121 is in the owners manual.

... no such luck... might have to play with the Autologic some more....

Have you the owners manual?

Check that BT is enabled.

Uncharacteristically I actually read and followed those instructions... yes. 🤣.

But alas, no Land Rover ,or anything else, appeared...😫

Fuse 41P supplies just the the telephone module with power.

Thanks Graeme, I am sure I had checked that some time back when I first started to Investigate, however wouldn't hurt to take a look again..

If not blown then the next step is to check for power and earth at the module's connector.

Have you been able to confirm that BT is enabled? While Faultmate noted that 100% of the model were built with the phone module fitted, only 98.7% had BT enabled. Are the steering wheel phone buttons fitted?

Yes phone buttons on wheel, BT must be disabled as my ph can't find anything . It will connect with any other BT device , so must be the car... it's no biggy as I don't really want to have the phone available ALL the time..😊, I do need a break from the cursed thing from time to time... It just irks me that the feature isn't working...

But you might miss calls when you're enjoying a quiet day out!

If BT is disabled then perhaps BT was disabled when built and meant to be enabled by the dealer to reduce battery drain in transit to Oz. My D2a was still in transport mode when I went to collect it and the centre diff lock was also engaged!

Finally a phone resolution! Turned out I hadn't dug deep enough into the configuration for the phone, there are many many options, mine was set at BT and Mobile phone in docking station, which my car doesn't have.. set for mobile and BT and presto, all is good!!
