PO probably thought it would save him some fuel, in a 101 yeah right.

From memory it has 2 x 200ltr tanks in the back.
Now that’s gotta help the range! [emoji6]

The transfer case has been converted to part time apparently so the previous owner tells me. i havent tested it yet as its only driven 3 metres onto the back of a car trailer where it still sits.

I know this badge is something to do with the rapier system but does the serial number mean anything and i see some vehicles have one and others dont. any info would be interesting. Gaz

I have no idea about the serial number but how cool is that! [emoji41] [emoji1303]
Have you tried REMLR?

Yes all Aussie 101s had the logo which goes on the right hand side just behind the bumper but many of the logos have been removed over time.
See the screws still in my body for it.

Now the badge you have is not correct as looks as if it is a UK badge rather than the Australian badge - this is because your badge indicates a 12v vehicle where all Aussie 101s were 24v.
Here is an Aussie 101 with the Aussie badge
157473
As far as I understand, the serial number is unique to the vehicle but I have not found any records that link the serial number to chassis or ARN.
The late Peter Paskevicius (RIP Peter), Peter P on here had a very nice 101 called Can Do (now with the HoHars I believe) and we corresponded over many years when he was building his 101. As part of the project he made up a complete set of badges for the Aussie 101 and went into production for a bit but then passed on production to some organisation in the UK. I have a full set but cannot find them at the moment - I cannot remember for sure as it was 10 years ago but I seem to remember he was in a quandary about the serial number on the Rapier Logo as he recognised the number for each was unique but was not able to reference them - I cannot remember if he left the number blank or used an generic number on his reproductions.
REMLR in the 101 ARN section has a column titled "Body" with a couple of 101s with a number listed in the same format as the Rapier logo serial number but I suspect this number has not come from any official source but is owners advising REMLR of their Rapier Logo serial numbers - which does make sense.
However the badge you have is probably not the original one for your vehicle as it is for a 12v 101 and starts with 92 where Aussie Rapier serial numbers started with 91 (the exception may be the two trial vehicles - Ian Reed are you still around with your trial vehicle - I know it still has the original logo on it).
I hope this helps.

Interesting stuff.i removed it from the car to get the 10 layers of army paint of it so its been on there for a while. next to the 12v it has been stamped so im wondering if it had 24v and someone has stamped out the wrong one ? just guessing. would be nice to see a few more plates. as you were saying the two listed on reml are rons and peters/ho hars one. bit of a mystery.on another note i see on a remlr post that these were sent in three batches. and according to the arn numbers mine was in the last batch in 78. 12v coil that has 24v running to it. winch mount that has seen a bit of work. front bump stops that have also seen some work. door top markings.

Even these 2 aussie plates have different numbers 501/502 and the GS is missing on one.

The 5.02 is the "model number" - REMLR has the model numbers as 5.02 for the first half of ARNs and 5.2 for the later ones but I think that may have been a typo and they should all be 5.02.
What 101 is that, that has the Rapier Plate that has 5.01 on it?
I cannot answer your questions on this as like all things military there are inconsistencies everywhere.
I assume you are familiar with the 101 ARN page on REMLR http://www.remlr.com/ARN/ARNs_101.php
So is the 101 you have now 12v or still 24v?

24 volt military suppressed ignition systems use 12 volts at the coil regardless of the vehicle battery voltage.

The rapier plate with 501 is from the remlr site under data plates. mine has the step down box which i have now removed to check as it wasnt hooked up to anything.it has 24v going straight to the 12v coil. mine is still 24v just with a small bosch 24v alt. Gaz

Would be good to get a few more data plate pictures on the site and matched to the arns/ owners. Gaz

That interesting as none of the model numbers in the link above are 5.01 - except if the pic is from one of the two trial vehicles - top two in the link are the trials vehicles - top one is owned by Iain Reed and second one is Anthony Johnson - I expect the pic is AJs trial vehicle so has model number 5.01.
A shame Iain is not on the forum these days as he could clarify.
How is that for deduction [thumbsupbig].

Fitted a new clutch hose so i could drive the old girl off the trailer. unlocked the hubs and no drive, front shaft turning so i guess its not modded to part time after all. so the free wheeling hubs look pretty but will prob come off. started to clean up some wiring and will start removing the gas setup tomorrow. Did you try locking and unlocking the CDL and see what happens. If it was actually modded for part time how do you engage 4wd? There should be a lever like other series LRs in the cabin
I suspect all they have done is just replaced the front hubs with what you have - so you will have to drive with the cdl in and the front hubs unlocked - then when offroad lock the front hubs and drive it like any other 101 with the cdl in or out as required.
I would take the gas off mine as well, but here in the ACT the vehicle has to go the the Government inspection station to have the gas removal engineered. There is no way I want a 101 near a Government inspection station.

If it was part time you would just operate the cdl on and off for it it to be 2wd /4wd. at the moment one of the hoses to the cdl is missing so thats another job to add to the list. i liked the handling of my old one with constant 4x4 so will set it up as it should be for now. less dramas for rego inspection. If the gas system was plated and modern i would probably keep it but its ancient and the tanks are way to big. to get it tested/inspected etc would be more drama than its worth. I just want it to be stock and basic to get it passed inspection then i can add the gear i want onto it later. Gaz

To answer your other question
The 4 litre tin of Protec paint
157514
And the spraycan
157515
4 litres (is cheap) is more than enough to do a 101 and probably the inside as well. Spraycans are great for all the touchups etc.
