About 2 yrs ago,we changed over all our cordless work gear except for the rotary hammer drills to Milwaukee, big improvement over the old Hitachi stuff,no issues at all.

But the big issue is they make so much gear, the boys always want something Milwaukee, torches, radios, leaf blowers, small pressure blasters, etc, etc[bigsad]

And guess who is still using the old Hitachi gear?[bighmmm]
Yes,i have about three grinders,four almost worn out drills,numerous torches,impact drills,batteries and chargers.[biggrin]

Milwaukee make an amazing range of gear, don't they. As a Queenslander whose climate never goes below 10 degrees C except on the coldest of freak cold snaps. I am wryly amused by the battery heated clothing. I can see the need for this having spent a Winter in Omaha and six weeks of mid-winter in Milwaukee. After a few weeks in Omaha I found myself wondering why the white man didn't leave it to the Indians. Both lovely cities, great food and beer, friendly maidens, but, My God! the winters.

Geez, don't want the boys to find out about that.
I can see them now....'it would be great when we have to spend all day working in freezer rooms'[bighmmm]
Or,camping in the middle of winter...[bigsad]

Something like this one?

Yep, prefect for Canberra winters.
It was also another way to give me stick as my battery system is teal blue [emoji23]

Come on the Winter Wombat and you’ll see why an Aussie might like one. I wish they were around when I was driving coaches to the snow. And I usually don’t feel the cold.

Wait until you see their digital torque wrench. It’s nuts.

Mate, I refuse to go south of Grafton after April and never go to Victoria which I have named The Frozen state.

Now now - We have some lovely weather in between - yesterday was a glorious 38 - nice dry heat, light winds, very pleasant.

However today is heading for low 40's and gale force winds, so back to aweful fire conditions. Tomorrow is forecast for 40mm of rain and mid 30's so sort of like Darwin for the day - all sorts - never a dull moment weather wise down here. [biggrin]

Back to the original post and video - it's basically a neatly put together inverter with lithium battery packs - wonder what sort of price point it will have. Guessing bloody expensive. Can run the 55" TV for 7 hours on 1 battery - if we said around 150 watts for the telly, then around 1000 watt hours or equivalent to around an 80Ah Lithium battery.

Given it can start a circular saw, etc, I'm guessing the inverter specs are quite high. While it could replace a small genset on a site, I bet with 2 batteries it will cost an order of magnitude more than said generator.

Still, nice product, they'll sell them no dramas. Will be interesting to see what they end up costing here in Aus if/when they make it. Based on a 5Ah Milwaukee battery costing around $130 here, I would expect each of the batteries in this thing to be about $2K each - plus the inverter.

Will see.

As they aren't actually released yet it's a little hard to tell, but one store in the US is taking pre-orders on the smaller of the MX at around $350. That's $100 more than their price for the M18 12 amp hour, so not really that bad. I can't seem to find a price for the bigger MX.

FYI, the 12 amp hour jobbie is $230 here at the red tool shop, so it's actually cheaper here than there, which is weird.

Yes I can. $599.

I imagine they'll sell the thing as a kit. The other MX powered tools are seriously impressive as well. Of course, the yellow mob will probably leapfrog them, and so it goes on.

BTW we're heading for Melbourne in two weeks - could you arrange for some nice weather please?

You know what they say about this place; if you don't like the weather wait a few hours and it will change...We only need four days of reasonable weather, preferably without bushfires, before we get on the boat to Tasmania. Surely Melbourne could manage that?

Well .... define "reasonable".

Joking aside, today was beautiful.

So, the Aus Open players copped bushfire smoke, a dust storm, a mud storm (which is still clogging the gutters here and has stained everything orange), 43C temperatures plus extreme humidity, torrential rain and heat yesterday and then ... today.

From what I can tell, it's a lot smaller capacity than the largest of the Goal Zero packs:

Goal Zero Australia | Yeti 3000 v2 (https://www.goalzero.com.au/shop/portable-power-stations/yeti-3000-v2/#.XjavKS1L1UM)

18 today with a cold blustery southerly wind - how’s that?

Think we will have some decent weather again around the weekend by the looks of it - 30 ish both days. When do you get here?

I would hope that the price is similarly smaller. I doubt that Milwaukee is after that market.

Maybe so, but at least we are one state, not a Balkan like conglomeration of separate parochial regions incorporating the South East Qld Socialist Republic, Central Qld, Western Qld, North Qld, Far Nth Qld and Far, Far Away even further Nth Qld.

Well, it is only big enough to be the homestead horse paddock on a decent size station.
