Any one know of an honest employer in Melbourne?, preferably mechanical/leading hand position or Trucking type work.

And by honest I mean...

One that holds onto paperwork and then doesnt attempt to renegotiate having "lost" the relevant documents and emails. (no, my copies of the emails dont count as they dont have them)
One that doesnt attempt to redefine the position and adds more responsibilities but then negotiates a lower pay rate as part of the new contract.
One that doesnt use other workers shortfalls to hold you accountable for because you were assigned 2 hours of assistance on a job with over 24 hours of labour clocked up on it.
One that doesnt make the position you're in redundant after you get all the major repairs done that the boss doesnt want to farm out to other companies due to the costs.
One that doesnt take public holiday pay out of your annual leave.
One that honours leave in lieu arrangements.

Hi Dave.
You do know that the LR fraternity would love to have you as a full time indie - even please come back to Perth?
If that lass of yours is half as good as I suspect, maybe she has a flair for paperwork?

All the best - they can't keep a good man down.

Then I'd have to work on something not defender.........

besides, If I did that Id then have to charge you guys to do my hobby at prices that cover the costs of being an indie instead of doing it for the pleasure of doing it...

You could still make a decent living by excluding those sub-marques you are not so keen on (as long as you fix my LSE?).

Can't help with your crane fetish though, even though I understand, given I have a brother with the same dis/ability.

Or MR auto in Brisbane, they do the newer stuff, you could learn a bit about them.

But they also do heaps of work on the older models, the yard is always full of them.

And they were recently chasing a tech, don't know if they still are.

well Dave if this is yourself you are talking about I'm sure you could open a Defender only business.

I can see it now , "DAVE'S DEFENDER MENDERS".

You just simply turn anything else away. Plenty of Indies do exactly that.

You would be inundated.

One local shop even has a printed A4 list in a mount on their reception desk of the vehicles they will not book in. Most are Euros. I asked the proprietor about the troublesome electronic RR's and LR's. No LR's was the reply. RR's ok but see your bank manager first. No shop around here is prepared to work on Land Rovers.

Skip Sinny. Move to Queensland and be warm in winter. Several LR shops up here, including MR Auto and British Off Road.
