If one was needing to replace a cooked TDV6, what would be the logical choice? Simply replace it with a decent TDV6, or are there other options that have been done?

BTW, what's the typical cost to replace a TDV6 (labour only)?

Integration is the challenge with alternatives. A workshop in South Africa is doing Toyota V8 Petrols into them, although from what I’ve read I believe several integration issues arise (it’s not seamless).

Are you talking new, rebuilt or good running order? If so grab an engine from a Territory.

Whatever is the best option, considering purchase/install cost, availability, ongoing maintenance cost etc. Does the Territory use the same motor (and gearbox)?

Same motor different trans, ford built their own zf copy called a 6R80 under license from zf.

DazzaTD5 (Perth Indie/my go to man) does a Territory changeover for about $10K all up last I heard.

I had a low km territory TDV6 put into mine about 4 years ago. Cost was $13.3k but that also included new silicon intercooler hoses, new windscreen washer reservoir, new radiator core and re-gas to the air con.

They swap over a lot of bits from old engine to new including the fuel pump and housing.

I have read that brand new long motors have come down a lot in price so may be worth looking into the costs.

cheers
