Hi all, my first question of probably plenty going forward.
Is there any way I can override the timing out after a few minutes of the ignition system without the engine running ?
Please excuse my ignorance if there is an obvious solution - I'm a recent acquirer of my best car yet, the D4.

Maybe tell us what you’re trying to do and we can explain other ways of achieving it without what you’re asking

And be aware you can flatten the battery in a shockingly short space of time with just accessories on!

Yep! 20-30AH typical drain with ignition on. This is why I’m asking the OP for the use case. Wiring around the system to the battery is a much better approach if it’s access to accessory power that’s the challenge.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking to supply power to a 40l engel in my camper d4 but after your advice I've decided to utilize my new auxiliary optima battery and wire in an extra power outlet. The auxiliary battery will be used primarily to power up a boat trailer winch via 35mm2 flex cable to the rear. Ive installed a traxide isolator to safeguard my starting battery.
Thanks again for your info and advice.

Absolutely. Traxide isolator is the best bet. I’m installing mine this weekend.

Why did you need to switch to the ignition position on the "ignition" switch - there is an aux position.

Not on a D4 [emoji3] no key!

You are a bright boy - you know what I meant - Surely there is an aux position where aux equipment can be operated without power also going to the ignition components for the engine.

Na..it turns off as does the radio...really annoying😐

I am quite bright; thanks for noticing. Your post was ambiguous and could have been construed in the sense of earlier RRS and D3 with a key.

In the keyless vehicles it’s only the Entertainment system that can be powered on with a simple press of its power button. It will time out after a while though.

Accessory sockets remain live whilst radio is on in my experience and then shut down with the stereo.

Not as annoying as a flat battery [emoji3]
Amplified stereos in my vehicles of old could flatten main batteries in 20 min even when running “quietly”.

Yeah I know but if at home next 2 jumper leads or at a camp with same then I'd like more control esp over the stereo!!

Cars are built for dummies nowadays😐
