Hi all,
Cannot seem to find a listing for this code:
P16A4-00 J_14229_DTC_P16A4
The MIL light is on and we are remote NT without access to a dealer. I have diagnostic experience (some) and a scanner but cannot track this code. The closest i found was a ECU issue but that doesn't help much...
For additional context- the car has had issues with DPF since new and this has been replaced by the dealer before we came to the NT.
Now the display states the engine will not restart after xxxxkms, and a few codes to explain that:
1. P2BAE-00 NOx exceedance - NOx control monitoring system
Permanent
2. P2BAE-02 NOx exceedance - NOx control monitoring system
Permanent
3. P2BAF-00 NOx system driver inducement active
Permanent
I guess first step is to solve the first P16A4 code them move onto the NOx sensors.. Any help greatly appreciated!
**forgot to add it is a 2017 disco sport diesel (L550)

Sounds to me like it is very low on DEF (addblue). Have you followed the warnings and filled it up as requested by the dash messages?
If you have filled it up and not used the bottle method detailed in the manual, it is possible that it is over full, which is treated the same as empty by the montitoring system and will not allow the engine to restart.

Thanks BobD,
I will double check this. I know when the warning first started, it was topped up but the message would not go away. I will double check the manual for the correct procedure- It is odd i cannot get it to purge or respond with the scan tool- the reading level was 14.5/14.5L

OK, pulled out 2-3L with a syringe and no better-
Any other suggestions please? Can you completely drain the tank?

I would ring a dealer to find out how to fix it. There is a dealer in Darwin.
Definitely sounds like it was over full, which is a real trap on all cars with DEF, not just LR.
if I can find anything I will post for you.

One thing I read is that if you over fill with DEF a vacuum is created in the tank when the car is driven and this prevents the DEF being injected which turns on the engine light, as you have found.
I haven't found out how to reset it after removing some DEF yet.

Thanks again BobD,
I had a technition send me the reset procedure but that failed- It was ign on for min 10 mins, then off and lock doors for min 4 mins, key on then start.... no good....
My scan tool can purge the tank and injector but that will not even work.
I am really interested in the first code P16A4-00

Hi all,
Well after a chat to a technician, the vehicle was listed as having a recall due to the ad-blue system having a wiring fault causing it to fail.... one of the symptoms= engine light
Off it goes to the dealer via barge
