Damned unsporting. A gentleman would use his pair of Purdeys.

I recall a video of the optic system of one of these existing military systems could read the time on a church clock in Calais from Dover.

Interesting. Apparently the Optic System of a Canberra Bomber could do something similar.. I recall reading about a test that happened in the South of the UK & (from memory) from the South Coast stuff was read in London.

It established a World Altitude Record of 70,310' so I suppose from that height it could see great distances. Of course the camera technology would have needed to be fantastic to convert that to hi- res & readable/useable stuff. Now days of course, Satellites are used & from a greater height & the clarity is remarkable & not like a Box Brownie at all.[smilebigeye]

Not at all. Guns are pairs. Game birds are a brace. Sometimes on a rough shoot rabbits and hares may be termed a brace,

I stand corrected.[bigsad]

Shotguns: matched pairs - The Field (https://www.thefield.co.uk/shooting/shotguns-matched-pairs-21952) - after which, I stand in poverty !!! [bigsmile]

Poverty after buying a pair of London guns. Bespoke Purdeys are over 100,000 pounds each depending on the owners tastes in engraving and inlays. Up to two years waiting and making time as well plus a couple of trips to London for fittings. I suppose in those circles if you have to ask the price you can't afford them.

Of course, you did realise the above was intentional. Didn't you?

But I do wonder sometimes whether it is my sense of humour or the Reader's.

"Whooooosh, what was that?" "It was a Jet going over my head"[biggrin]

Shark spotter drone warns surfer
Shark spotter drone warns surfer | Flight Safety Australia (https://www.flightsafetyaustralia.com/2020/10/shark-spotter-drone-warns-surfer/)

Summer is officially nearly two months away, but drones are already proving their worth in detecting sharks near Australian beaches.
Drone footage emerged last week showing a great white shark measuring about 2.5 metres menacing professional surfer Matt Wilkinson off the coast of Ballina in northern NSW.

Each is custom made to suit.

At those prices I think I will stick to my 2 Pre War Ned Kelly cap guns. Lovely black hammer fin finish.[bigrolf]

Finland make very good quality guns. I had "Sako" centre fire rifle with an expensive scope on it, but it was just too good to have station hands throwing it about, so I sold it. The other one that I had for awhile was a "Valmet" in 7.62 / .308 Winchester. It was basically a sporting version of an AK 47. This was used out of the helicopter on feral animal control. The Government contracts used to supply it, but it was also available ex military stock.

Drone registration and operator accreditation

Drone registration and operator accreditation | Flight Safety Australia (https://www.flightsafetyaustralia.com/2020/12/drone-registration-and-operator-accreditation/)

With more drones in Australian skies, mandatory drone registration and operator accreditation are on the way to help make flying safer and more enjoyable for all

Australians will soon need to register their drones or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) before they fly for business or as part of their job. The process is quick and easy through myCASA—CASA’s online services portal.

The new rules will also require drone users to obtain an operator accreditation that will prove the user has learnt the drone safety rules and standard operating conditions. You do not need an accreditation if you hold a remote pilot licence (RePL) or are only flying for sport or recreation.

One of my brothers has an old .243 Sako, the serial number points to it being around 50yrs old.
He picked it up for $400 many years ago,it is worth thousands today.
