Hi My name is Andrew and I am new to the group.
Owned Land Rovers for a while now.
1998 disco 4 cylinder diesel
2004 disco TD5
2012 Disco 4 2.7 diesel
2017 Disco 5 Sd4
Only just purchased disco 5 from interstate and have to take it to local police station to be checked. To date they always have to find the engine number on the engine.
Could somebody please let me know how to find it.
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Probably too late however this is from the online owners handbook on the Land Rover Official website.

I'm looking for the engine number too as due to last years engine replacement I need to change the rego details. JLR said they'd do this but 3 months has gone by with nothing from them.
The online manual is useless as it shows it in the cargo area.............
I looked under the bonnet but I may as well be looking at the Enterprise's warp drive given its complexity.
I would assume that apart from taking the (very flimsy) plastic cover off the top of the engine, it should be reasonably easy to see.............but no.
Any pointers would be appreciated?

Hi Mark
According to this (https://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/document/3D/2018/T23420/28030_en_GBR/proc/G1980663)link (point 9 2L diesel) it is supposedly on the inlet manifold.

From memory it's on an aluminum tag on the left side rocker cover.
The same number stamped on the block is above the starter motor. ( starter has to be unbolted to get a peek at it.)
