2.2 tdc puma thermostat

I am draining the cooling system, as AFAIK original coolant is still inside and approaching 8 years old.
Planning to replace the thermostat at the same time, since I have all the radiators shrouds off.

What the deal with the thermostat? Is LR original the only way to go? What temp range? or is it one size fits all? Has anyone used a reputable aftermarket brand (Tridon, or similar?)

So, the dealer is coming to the party for approx $140, with lead time of a few days. Tried the usual suspects with the usual vague response.
I am still running the factory unit at 8 years age and 50,000km. Changing it is probably not the worst idea I've had all week... May as well with the coolant out of it

Defender TD5, TDCi (puma) same part numbers, I've only ever used genuine on cooling systems, hoses etc. You then get at least another 10 odd years out of them
