When I first got my Disco, an acquaintance asked me to go to northern NSW to tow home an old car. I wasn't sure about this, but I did it. 158195

I decided to get RACV Total Care. It offered recovery of any car I happened to be driving, and also a nominated car, such as that of my wife. I have considered dumping it several times, but have not done so. In the 11 or so years I have had it, they have towed my Disco four times, my Ford once, and paid for a taxi on four of those occasions.

But last weekend they came and towed my sons Patrol, his trailer, his dog, him and me from Yulong on the GOR to Lara at 22:00, getting us home at 00:30. 150KM tow. The towie was old school, and basically made the RACV go past the 100K limit for the tow. I just had to say I was driving.

I am not affiliated with any road side assistance in any way, but there is no way I'll ever let my cover lapse now.

They wouldn't come out to my Scania B-Double though. Not sure why.

I agree , you only have to have them come once a year & it has payed for it's self for that year.

Yep. $220 Pa, the tow the other night would have been upwards of $1000. And they have never questioned.

Yes,had RACQ for years.
Hardly ever used it,until the Deefer decided to do the adapter shaft trick,on a dirt road a long way out of town.[bighmmm]

Tilt tray of over 600K,dropped off at local mechanic,MR auto, didn't pay a cent.

Did use it once years ago when the old Mitsy van we had in those days had a tank full of dirty fuel.

I keep the membership just in case, particularly as we do a lot of travelling around the countryside, and all i have to do is be in the vehicle.

What is on the trailer, looks a bit like an old Rover, but probably not?

1954 FIAT 1400.

How did 1.4 L drag that thing around? With the trailer I was around 550kg overweight.
