The sat-nav system in my new 2008 Jag is DVD- based and the DVD that is in it is from 2007. Not particularly useful. Does anyone know a good source for updated mapping DVDs? There is one site I've found that offers updated discs for Australia but the site looks dodgy and I'm a bit wary of it Navigation Systems Australia Including BMW Models (https://www.navigationau.com/) and their online order form demands a ridiculous amount of info- home address, phone, vehicle info including VIN, just seemed sus.
The Jaguar system apparently accepts the same DVD as Land Rover models of the same era. Would be nice to source a more recent disc.

The most up to date and legitimately sourced map disc to work with your XF is this one

Volvo XC60 (2008 - 2011) - TomTom Australia 23 GPS Map Update – navshop (https://navshop.com.au/collections/volvo/products/volvo-xc60-2008-2011-australia) V23 was sold as a 2018 disc.

The nav in the XF up to 2011MY is the same as the XK to 2015MY and the Freelander 2 to 2012MY, as well as the some of the Volvo models like the XC60.

The disc is not compatible with the Discovery 3 or Range Rover Sport.

But it works with the XF, I have the same disc in my XKR. You don't see anything Volvo on the nav screen, it just works.
It will likely run a software update to the Nav module when you first put in the disc, this is fine no problem.

This mob has been mentioned on the Whirlpool forum:

Thanks Cambo, I have ordered the disc. I guess I should have asked you first!

And thanks Ron, I suppose the bottom line is if it looks dodgy it probably is dodgy. It appears the bloke is based in the UK and pretending to be in Australia.

Got the DVD in the mail a couple of days ago, doesn't say 'Volvo' on it anywhere ( which is a plus imo), loaded it into the player and the nav unit came up with a message something like 'initialising new disc, this will take 15 minutes'. I left it to do it's thing and when I came back it was all loaded, works just like it should. Very happy.
