Anyone know there’s a way of checking the registered GVM of a vehicle without calling VicRoads? May have to on Tuesday but wondering if anyone knew? Friend has a van that was sold with a 4.5 tonne GVM here in Aus to keep it on a car licence - elsewhere in the world it was a 5.0 tonne van. All well and good, but there is a sticker inside the door that says ‘Truck licence required to drive this vehicle’ which suggests it may have had a GVM upgrade at some stage. RWC and rego papers don’t show this.
The standard axles are rated at 5.3 tonne between them and a quick google suggests this vehicle is an easy GVM upgrade if it hasn’t been done already as all suspension and axles are designed for a higher load, but it was kept at 4.5 here in Aus to maximise sales. Just a VASS sign off required, but given Tuesday is so far away, trying to find some info him sooner.
