Has anyone tried the aldi radios ?

Audio Head Unit with Reverse Camera - ALDI Australia (https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-11-march/wednesday-detail-wk11/ps/p/audio-head-unit-with-reverse-camera/)

the display for my cheapo reversing camera has died, and this unit has a built in screen/camera. Much better than having a seperate screen cluttering up the dash!

I have no intention of ever using a camera to reverse by :) .... It is only so I can guide the towball under a hitch receiver ... and avoid crashing into the Aframe 1/2dozen times .... and getting out of the car 15times to see where the damn thing is now .... [bighmmm] [bigwhistle]

well I thought I'll just return it if its no good and grabbed one (gotta love the aldi warranty). Now I figure a million and one poeple are going to seach bauhn cr-6405 cr 6405 cr6405 ... there now google will find it. *** YOU NEED TO ADD A SIGNAL WIRE FOR THE CAMERA .... read the label on the unit itself ***

I just wired in one of those aldi stereos... gotta admit, given it weighs nothing I had no hopes of it being any good. I'll be damned if it didn't fire straight up, synch to my phone, play from the USB stick and auto-tune all the radio stations. I couldn't get the rear camera to work though. there is no instructions for its instalation included.... But I just plugged in the RCA connection from the existing camera....

bloody nothing ... I figured it must just sense a signal on the RCA plug ... but nope. No spare wires, nothing in the supplied manual. However I found a label on the unit itself that says Pin 15 - reverse light signal .... Ohh... they haven't wired it. So I added a wire into the housing, and bingo, we have instant reverse camera.

My initial thoughts are this thing is bloody brilliant. Keep in mind this is in a POS rangie with dweeby crappy factory speakers ... I'm not sure if this unit could drive decent speakers given its light weight (then again, maybe most of the weight in other units is the drive system for the CD/tape players).

the flashing lights on its display are cheesy ... but hey... who can complain for the price.

I'll check tonight and let you know. I'm assuming only 12volts!
