Gday All,

I have seen reference in other thread to the D4 TDV6 2.7 not suffering the same failures as the D3 due to upgrades.. So other than the oil pump housing what was changed as i cant find reference to an upgraded crank or similar anywhere on the UK forums.

Can someone advise what changed if any were made.

Who would honestly know. Jaguar Land Rover / Ford seem to do a lot of on the fly engineering. Both are good at lots of marketing bull**** with very little factual information available.

Overall the D4 2.7lt seems to be a long / longer lasting engine, guessing same spec as the engine used in the Ford Territory. Both built on the same engine production line, as the Territory engine in a Territory has "Land Rover" logo'd parts on it (as well as the normal FoMoCo logo).

Yes agree who would know but I suspect there's variation in preferred parts supply...as has been suggested by a local dealer to a customer concerned about poss failure of the new 3l in the F Trucks.

Could well be that critical parts such as cranks and bearings have been produced by different suppliers to Ford v LR with different stds of quality.

Caterpillar for eg have similar supply line variences with some parts ex China..others ex USA. Guess which are better quality😐...same price too..and all branded as Cat!!

Another eg. Electric fence reels made in NZ by Gallagher ...mmm..not so..as I had to get parts for one trashed by a bull which had to come from...you guessed it...China.
