We purchased this last October, had to collect earlier than expected, 7hr round trip.

Don’t get to many ironbarks this size these days

3.6m long x 700 tapering down to 570

Over the six months it was drying out at the mill we had seven offers to buy it.

The devil's material. [wink11]

I burn ironbark to make tasty, tasty BBQ.

That's a lot of barbeque fuel, which is all wood is good for. It won't bend, fold or form and is impossible to weld, even with Woodcraft rods. [tonguewink]

In preparation for our new off grid house, once we find a block of land, in 3 maybe 4 years

Will become bench tops, dining tables, furniture....... etc

They are 65mm slabs, probably 5-7mm too think.

Thats thick! Whats the destiny for these pieces? They look like they could be outdoor furniture at the moment.

Bench tops will be fantastic. Our benchtops are blackwood, 35 years plus though

We wanted the finished size to be 50mm, from memory he went 65mm to get seven slabs, to cut eight slabs the size would have dropped to 55mm which may off made it tight to make 50mm finished.

It’s only a vision at the moment, planning 3-4 years ahead......we think we got it at an OK price and you don’t get this size pop up very often.

Milled locally?

Stanthorpe......

He was milling Bunya Pine today, very little left on private property, the logs looked about 1200 round and 3-4 meters long....all Prezioso before he even received it.....dining room tables.

I purchased some retaining wall slabs a few weeks ago, some sort of hardwood.

As I was walking out I saw a handsome kind of gnarly and knotted piece of pine about 1200x300x40 which was flat and looked perfect for a hatrack I was inttending to build. So I bought it for $30. Using old iron rail spikes off the old Ghan Railway, I set them at 45 degrees with the help of a drill and angle grinder to dress the spikes from square to round to set in the timber.

those spikes are pretty tough iron I can tell you.

its 75% finished and is trial hung in my entrance , a few other spikes to set in it to suit my lovely lady, and finish it with something...not sure what it should be , varnish? lacquer? oil?

I got the blowtorch out and burned and then bashed the flapdisk around at bruised it while using it as my workbench.

anyway first look she really likes it....I had to confirm that twice.......

if I can master putting a photo up I'll do it

That timber will make lovely furniture/bench tops.

I did extensions at my last house and I used ironbark floor boards.

Polished up they looked fantastic.

In 2010 we did our kitchen floor with recycled blackbutt that had been remilled and finished it with OSMO Polyx oil. we are still happy with the results 10 years later although it could probably do with a strip/clean and reoil.
